Oldest son of George and Letty Taylor. He married Margaret (Peggy) Amyx in Botetourt County VA c. 1808(Rev. Mitchell's Marriage Returns 1st Dec 1808, Botetourt County Circuit Court Records) He inherited part of his father's plantation on Short Hill Mountain where he made his home until his untimely death at age 40. His obituary was listed in the Intelligencer (Lexington VA) on Saturday, May 1, 1824 (p.3,c.4) - "Died - At his residence on the head of Cedar Creek, in Rockbridge County, Mr. Mark Taylor, aged about 40 years, a native of Rockbridge County, leaving a wife and eight children." His wife migrated west to Ohio and is buried near her daughter Nancy (Taylor) Hogue in Woodland Cemetery Xenia, OH. She never remarried.
