Widow of Sylvanus Howes. Died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. A. Merchant. Age 65 years, 2 months and 14 days. She had been a patient sufferer from Brights disease for the past 6 months. Born in Warsaw and spent 65 years in Warsaw with the exception of a few years residence in Middlebury. The daughter of William Parker. Her husband died in 1875 and her father and mother in 1877. She possessed an earnest, quiet christian character, and had been a consistent member of the Presbyterian church since she was 14 years of age. She was fond of her home life, and will be grieviously missed in the family circle by her devoted daughter, and grandchildren. She had a rare faculty for making and keeping friends, natural humor and brightness and kindliness being strong and attractive characteristics. She possessed also a fine mind and was a broad reader, keeping herself always well informed upon the best topics of the day both in church and state matters. Leaves 1 daughter, Mrs. Alice Merchant and 1 sister, Mrs. Aurora S. Perkins and 4 half sisters. Member Presbyterian Church having united with the church when 14 years old.
