On November 17, 1921, she was united in marriage with Robert E. Knowles, also of Ruskin, at Hebron, Nebraska. He preceded her in death November 7, 1974. Three children were born to them, Gladys Irene, Edna Darlene and Robert Phillip.
Mr. and Mrs. Knowles celebrated their Golden Wedding November 17, 1971.
In the early years of their marriage they farmed in the Ruskin vicinity, then moved to Superior. In 1945 the family moved to Washougal, Washington, which remained their home.
Mrs. Knowles had been a member of the Camas Friends Church for many years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, four sisters and four brothers. One brother died in childhood. Those who lived to adulthood were Charley, Jesse and Elmer, Mrs. Art Sykes (Lula), Mrs. Knud Henriksen (Sena), Allie and Hattie.
She is survived by her children, Robert of Vancouver, Washington, Gladys Thorton and Edna Hartill, both of Washougal, two granddaughters, Sandra Lee Cox and Dana Marie Knowles, and a great grandson, Ryan Christopher Cox, all of Washougal, and also many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held September 12, at 3 p.m. at Straub's Funeral Chapel, Camas, Washington. The Rev. J. Earl Geil and David Steigmeir officiated. Vault interment was in Washougal Memorail Cemetery.
