Albert W. Lambert, of Naugatuck, passed away at home on Nov. 9, 2017.

Mr. Lambert was born on March 11, 1934, in Trenton, N.J., the second child of Albert C. Lambert and Edna (Simpson) Lambert, and was educated in Trenton area parochial schools.

After high school he served 36 months on active duty with the U.S. Army during the Korean War, and returned home to attend Rider College (now Rider University), where he met his future bride, Irene Paranay of Somerville, N.J. They were married in 1958 after both had received their bachelor’s degrees from Rider. They celebrated their 57th wedding anniversary in August 2015.

After early entry-level positions with H.K. Porter Co. and Solfo Paint Co., Mr. Lambert joined Weyerhaeuser Co. in 1961 at its Pennsauken, N.J., facility. Between 1961 and 1981, he served in a number of increasingly responsible accounting and financial positions at Weyerhaeuser facilities in Chicago, Plymouth, N.C., and Wausau, Wis. These included region services manager for an integrated pulp and paper mill in Wisconsin.

In 1982 he left Weyerhaeuser and moved back to Chicago to join U.S. Industries Inc. as an assistant group controller of the industrial group and later as group controller of the diversified products group. The Lamberts moved to Brookfield in 1983 when the USI Group Offices were consolidated with U.S. Industries’ new corporate office complex in Stamford.

In 1985 after the hostile takeover of U.S. Industries by Hanson Industries, and the dissolution of the former USI organization, Mr. Lambert founded and operated Lambert Associates, a management accounting consulting firm with clients in the United States and South America.

In 1996 he accepted the position of corporate controller for DCG Precision Manufacturing Co. in Bethel, and dissolved his consulting business. In 2000 he joined Stratford Land Development Co. in Stratford as chief financial officer and corporate secretary. Subsequently he relocated his family to Stratford.

In 2008, after a business career of 50 years, he retired but continued to be active as a consultant both for his former employer and for various other clients. He had remained active in St. Mark’s Episcopal Church of Bridgewater until his death.

In 2015, he and his wife moved to their present home in Naugatuck.

Mr. Lambert is survived by his daughter, Deborah Lambert-Sevetson of Ansonia; his son, Robert C. Lambert of Monroe; his sister, Joan L. Clark of Stockbridge, Ga.; as well as three grandchildren, Jessica Sevetson, Ian Sevetson and Seraphine Lambert; and by numerous nephews and nieces.
