Patricia cast aside her cane and walker and died after a year's battle with cancer and a 23 year battle with Multiple Sclerosis. Pat completed her undergraduate work at Farleigh Dickenson in 1969, and received a Masters Degree in Comparative Literature at Penn State in 1971. An accomplished writer, she worked in Advertising on Madison Avenue for a number of years, then moved to Chapel Hill, NC to meet and marry Lee Biggar in 1979. In 1983 she received a Masters Degree in Education and Curriculum Development at the University of North Carolina. She worked with Head Start in Chapel Hill through a program with the UNC School of Education, educating and training teachers and principals across the State. She co-authored several children's instructional books and produced and directed an audiotape series "Harry and Friends" for preschool and kindergarten. She had nearly completed her PHD in Educational Philosophy in 1998 when another attack of MS forced her early retirement. She lived her life with courage, grace and a good sense of humor, and is greatly missed by her loved ones. She is survived by her husband, Lee who died on March 17 2007 of Cancer. She was also preceded by her parents William and Margaret Doughty.
