James Anthony Leep, 58, of Granger, IN, passed away at 7:30 p.m. Friday,
February 4, 2000 in St. Joseph Regional Medical Center, South Bend, IN. Mr.
Leep was born on June 30, 1941 in Hammond, IN. He had lived in Granger
since 1989, and was a former resident of Portage, IN. Mr. Leep was the owner
and founder of SafeGuard Security Systems. He was also the General Manager of
WGTC-FM radio station in South Bend from 1989 until 1996, and the past
president of CLM Realtors, Portage, IN. On December 14, 1968, in Portage, IN,
he married Bonnie J. Miller, who survives. Also surviving are his children, Gina
(Jonathan) Jones of Granger, IN and James (Kim) Leep of South Bend; two
grandchildren, Madison Joanne Jones and Jacob Andrew Jones;four sisters,
Dawn Lofgren of Jacksonville, FL, Susie (John Morelli) Vandersteen of Granger,
IN, Julie (Michael) Reba of Highland, IN and Kathy (Jim) Gaske of Munster, IN;
two brothers, Michael R. (Karen) Leep of Granger, IN and Ted (Janet) Pietrzak
of Edwardsburg, MI; and his stepmother, Leona Leep of Cedar Lake, IN. He was
preceded in death by his father, James E. Leep, mother, May Rackett Korba and
stepfather, Nicholas Korba.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. C.S.T. Tuesday, February 8, 2000 in the
Portage First Church of the Nazarene in Portage, IN, with Rev. Nathan Price officiating.
Burial will follow in McCool Cemetery, Portage, IN. Friends may call Monday
from 4 to 8 p.m. E.S.T., in the Kaniewski Funeral Home 3545 N. Bendix Drive,
South Bend, IN, and from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. C.S.T. on Tuesday in the church.
Mr. Leep attended the Granger Community Church and was a member of the Portage
First Church of the Nazarene. Memorial contributions may be made to: St. Joseph
