Jack married on March 20th, 1956. Mr. Arter was a veteran of the United States Army. He was a member of New Beginnings Church near Dennard, Arkansas and was of the Pentecostal faith. His working years were spent as a gas station attendant, mechanic, carpenter, Rock Island Railroad worker and carpentry. He was an avid gardener and loved harvesting the vegetables it produced. Jack loved music, especially blue grass and Christian songs. He loved to camp and fish. He enjoyed working in his workshop and making things out of wood. Jack would often give his finished products as Christmas gifts. He loved his family and the time spent together during the holiday season.
Survivors include his wife of 61 years of the home; six children and spouses; seventeen grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; and three siblings and spouses.
Jack is preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Edgar Arter, Herbert Arter, Dave Arter and Bobby Arter; one son, Jackey Alan Arter; grandson, Traven Arter; daughter-in-law, Susie Arter; and son-in-law, David Davis.
Arrangements are by Roller-Coffman Funeral Home in Marshall, Arkansas. Funeral services for Mr. Arter will be 2:00 PM Thursday, November 16th, 2017 at New Beginnings Church near Dennard, Arkansas. Visitation will be 1:00 PM preceding the service. Burial will follow in Archey Valley Cemetery.
