S-Sgt. Orlyn Harrison, infantryman who made powder at Chickasaw Ordnance Works before entering the Army in September, 1941, has been wounded in action in France. His parents, Mr. and Mrs. O.V. Harrison, 3664 Spottswood, received a War Department message that he was wounded July 26.
A letter from the sergeant written July 25 told of "an umbrella of planes over his foxhole." He said he was opening a can of cheese and crackers __" and they'll taste plenty good!" he added.
Sgt. Harrison, Tech High graduate in 1937, was sent to North Ireland in December after training at Camp Croft, SC and Fort Jackson, SC. He has been evacuated to an English hospital.
Mr. Harrison is the owner and operator of Bonnie Furniture Co. 129 N. Main.
