Jean LaVonne Smith February 12, 1927 - October 25, 2017 Lake San Marcos LaVonne spent her childhood on a century-old farm north east of Wakefield with wonderful parents, Velmer and Myrtle Anderson. They had 6 children, 4 girls and 2 boys.She graduated from Wakefield High Schoolthen off to Wayne, Nebraska, 10 miles away for college. She graduated from college with a "Third Degree Associate's Teachers Certificate." LaVonne then took a position in Albion, Nebraska, public school system for 4 years. There she met her wonderful husband of 55 years, William James Smith. The Korean War took them to San Diego, California, to join the Navy for 4 years, where Doug was born. Their second son, Greg, was born 4 years later. They had homes in San Diego, Solana Beach and Idylwild, CA. They last moved to Lake San Marcos where Bill passed away in 2005.Doug has a beautiful daughter, Marisa Smith, who is married to Dennis Meyers. They have 2 darling children, Logan, 3 years old, and Reagan, 6 months old.Greg has 2 children, Marissa Bamber and Michael Smith. Marissa, who is married to Jeff Bamber, has 2 wonderful sons, Braden, 10, and Luca, 3 years old. Her parents, a sister Mary Jane Van Cleave (Eddie) and her younger brother Rodney are all deceased. She is survived by her siblings, Clarise Joyce Schlinse and husband Fred of Boulder City, Nevada, Bertrand (Bud) Waine Anderson, wife Daunta of Stockton, CA, and Sharon Carol Salmon, husband Gary of Wakefield, Nebraska, and many, many other wonderful relatives. Some of her activities included...raising her family, helping out at schools, room mother, and PTA. She taught catechism at Mission San Diego De Acala. While living in Solana Beach she helped with the Historical Society and at St. James Catholic Church. While living in Idylwild, she volunteered at the Church of the Pines and then here at Saint Elizabeth Seton. She loved being with her friends at bunko, garden club, bridge, Women's Club, and the Deanery at North County Catholic Daughters. All of her family called her "Bonnie." Bonnie's life motto was "Stay busyStay happy." From everyone that called youLaVonne, Bonnie, Wife, Mom, Grandma, GG, and friendWe will always love you... and miss you. A celebration of LaVonne's wonderful life will be held Friday, Nov.17, 2017, 11am, at St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church, 6628 Santa Isabel St., Carlsbad, CA 92009. Reception to follow.
