Nancy grew up around the Whipholt area and attended Walker School. Following school, she worked for a brief time at Ah-Gwah-Ching before her first daughter was born in July of 1961.
She met and married Donald Wilcowski on May 7, 1965 in Grand Rapids, MN. Together they resided in Whipholt. Donald’s employment would find them moving to different locations before finally settling back in the Whipholt area. Once they returned to the area, Nancy worked as a home health aide for the Cass County Nursing Service. Her love for driving also found her volunteering to drive for the V.A. and Social Services department. Even with Nancy’s dedication to volunteering, she managed to be a full time mom to her children.
Nancy brought joy to all who knew her. She loved to laugh and have fun. Her favorite pastimes were playing cards, going to the casino, listening to music, watching her soaps and going shopping. Nancy’s home would often be called “Nancy’s World of Christmas”, because she took such pride in decorating for the Christmas season. One of the things that Nancy was proudest of was her grandson’s band. No matter where they would end up performing, she would be there as their biggest fan. You could find her b-bopping to all the music. Nancy will be missed by all who knew her, but especially by her main little man, her dog Patches.
The family that Nancy joins again are her parents; Denzil and Anne, her husband; Donald Wilcowski, sister; Nina Underwood, step-son; Larry Wilcowski, and her brother’s in-law; George Edwards, Jack Johnson, Ed Larson, and Leon Underwood.
Those she leaves behind to cherish her memory are her sons; Daniel (Julie) Wilcowski of Ramsey, MN, and Terry Wilcowski of Coleraine, MN, daughters; Lori (Tom) Gamache of Walker, Dawn Wolf of Walker, Tanya (Kenny) Estabrooks, of Walker, Linda (Mike) Marshall of Pengilly, MN, and Melody Johnson of Nashwauk, MN, sisters; Bette Edwards of Blair, NE, Alice Johnson of Nashwauk, MN, and Ruth Larson of Bemidji, MN, grandchildren; Denzil, Tyler, Matthias, Gracie, Jason, Nick, Jay, Dillon, Marcus, Allison, Alvin, Olivia and Olive, step-grandchildren; Hope, Heather, Heika, R.J., Renee, April, Joshua, and Jeff, great grandchildren; A.J., Dominic, Austin, Tye, Raya, Jayla, and Oliver, other relatives, friends, and Patches her dog.
