Virden, Sept. 22. - Alvin Foster Coultas, 59, well-known farmer of two and one-half miles west of Virden, was found dead at 9 o'clock in the morning, Sept. 22, 1938, at his residence. He was aged 59 years, 1 month and 29 days.
Coroner Jacoby conducted an inquest, and the jury returned a verdict that death was due to apoplexy.
Decedent was born July 26, 1869, a son of Elizabeth Jane and Thomas F. Coultas.
In 1893 [sic], he married Miss Nora Taylor. Following their marriage, they removed to North Carolina, returning to the Virden community in 1923.
Surviving are the widow; five daughters, Mrs. J.P. Robertson, Roland, N.C.; Mrs. E.H. Cline, Hillside, N.J.; Mrs. O.K. Cline, East Orange, N.J.; Mrs. James Miller, Virden; and Miss Catherine Coultas, at home; one son, Alvin F., jr., at home; and the following brothers and sisters: Mrs. William Emerson [sic] of near Virden; Dr. R.J. Coultas, Mattoon; H.W. and Frank Coultas, of near Virden.
Funeral services were held at the residence.
Interment was in Virden cemetery.
