LaVeryl was born to Ira Milton and Alverta Ann Houghton Kelsey on August 5, 1925 at Starr Ranch, north of Mona.
LaVeryl went to school in Mona and Nephi, where she met her sweetheart, DeVon Charles Winn. LaVeryl and Devon were married on September 3, 1942. The marriage was later solemnized in the Manti Temple. They were married for sixty-theee years. Together, they raised five children: DeeAnn (Glen) Searle of Levan, Peggy Wankier of Nephi, Joel Winn of Levan, Mark (JoAnn) Winn, and Deborah (Kim) Hall of Nephi.
LaVeryl graduated from Juab High School later in her life. She was very proud of this accomplishment. She worked side by side with DeVon on the farm for many years. She held several jobs outside of the home. She worked at NRP and Moroni Processing Plant for several years. Her favorite job was as a “Farmer’s Wife.”
LaVeryl was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She has held several positions throughout the years. Her and Devon were Stake Dance Leaders, which she talked about often.
LaVeryl loved to do yard work and until a few years ago kept up her own yard. She loved to read, crochet, and be surrounded by her children and grandchildren.
LaVeryl is survived by her five children, twenty-three grandchildren, sixty-nine great-grandchildren, and twenty great-great-grandchildren. She has one brother, Ted Kelsey, who resides in Elko, Nevada. She is preceded in death by her husband, DeVon; parents; two brothers, Milton Elwin (Bus) Kelsey and Jerry Glade Kelsey; son-in-law, Jack Wankier; one great-grandchild; and one great-great-grandchild.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 24, 2017 in the Nephi North Stake Center, 1125 North 400 East, Nephi. Viewings will be held from 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Monday, October 23, 2017 at Anderson Funeral Home, 94 West 300 North, Nephi, and one hour prior to the services at the church on Tuesday.
Interment: Vine Bluff Cemetery.
