Ira Judy, 98, of Ammon, died Tuesday, November 7, 2017, at home surrounded by his family.



Ira was born on July 22, 1919, in Idaho Falls, Idaho to William Aaron Judy and Mary Ann Ward Judy, their 5th son and 10th child. He grew up in Ozone and Ammon, Idaho. He attended schools in Ammon graduating from Ammon High School.



He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served an LDS Mission to East Central States Mission located in the states of Kentucky, Virginia, Tennessee, West Virginia and North Carolina. Through his life he served in many positions.



On March 31, 1942, he married Dorothy May Hammer in the Salt Lake LDS Temple for time and all eternity. They made their home in Ammon making their living farming and ranching east of Ammon and in the Ozone area.



In January 1945, he was drafted and served in the United States Army during World War II, stationed in the Philippines. He was honorably discharged on January 19, 1946.



He loved to fish, boat, hunt, snowmachine, and to spend time with his family.



He was survived by his sons: Raymond Judy, Kent (Karen) Judy; his daughters: Venita Peterson and Susann (Kim) Kohler; 20 grandchildren, 61 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.



He is preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy May Hammer; two sons: Richard (Lynda) Judy and Dwain (Louise) Judy; one grandson, and two great-grandsons; his sisters: Annie Melvina (Albert) Reed, Lillie (Rulon) Cook, Cora Dorothy (Reed) Elkington, Nellie (Dean) Elkington, and Floral (Wayne) Robinson; his brothers: Alva Clark (Dean) Judy, William Lavern (Bessie) Judy, John Melvin (Janice) Judy, Rulon Clifford (Marjorie) Judy.


Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, November 11, 2017, at the LDS church, 4030 John Adams Parkway, with Bishop Brian D. Call officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m.-1:45 p.m., prior to services at the church. Interment will be in the Ammon Cemetery.
