Marie Eldora Ubben, 91, of Moorhead, MN., formerly of LaMoure, ND., passed away on November 5, 2017 at Eventide Nursing Home in Moorhead. She was born on February 8, 1926 in Windsor, ND., daughter of Clifford and Mae (Dancer) Willey. Marie graduated from Jamestown High School in 1943. She also attended Central Dakota Commercial College in Jamestown where she received a Diploma for completing the War Emergency course in 1943. She was employed as stenographer at LaRan National Farm Loan Association in LaMoure, ND., from 1943-1946.

On October 3, 1946, Marie married Edward Ubben of Fullerton, ND. They farmed the Ubben family farm until 1970. Ed passed away in 1971. Surviving are three children, Lana Guerr of Box Elder, SD., Ralph (Rhonda) Ubben of Moorhead, MN., and Lois (Kevin) Poehls of Piedmont, SD; nine grandchildren, Theresa (Harold) Olson, James (Sarah) Berger, Andrew Guerr, Jeff (Malissa) Ubben, Scott (Andrea) Ubben, Kristine (John Keller) Ubben, Michelle (Cody) Bakken, Megan (Erik) Dahlquist, and Charles Poehls; and eight great grandchildren.

Marie was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and two brothers (Kenneth and Walter).

After her husband's death, Marie then worked at the LaMoure School in the dietary department from 1971-1973, at Elmer’s Bakery from 1973-1980, and Arts Super Value Bakery from 1980-1990. In 1991 Marie moved to Barnesville, MN., and to Fargo/Moorhead in 2008.

Marie was a member and clerk of the Session, of the First Presbyterian Church in LaMoure and later a member of St. James UCC in Barnesville. She was active in UPW in LaMoure and enjoyed her quilts and rugs ladies church group in Barnesville. Marie loved to garden and found joy in sharing her iris, tulips, and lilies with her family and friends. Marie’s favorite pastime was spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She was often referred to as “cookie grandma” as she always had homemade cookies on hand.

Marie’s funeral service was held on Friday, November 10, 2017, at Wright Funeral Home in Moorhead, MN. Internment was in Rosehill Cemetery in LaMoure, ND.
