Widowed, Lilian Mary Elizabeth (née Barry) Troy, of Rocmaura Nursing Home in Saint John, New Brunswick, died on Saturday, 8 Dec 2001 in her 101st year.

Born in Chatham, New Brunswick, she was the youngest child of Edward A. and Mary Elizabeth (née O'Kane) Barry and was the last remaining member of her immediate family (she had nine brothers and sisters: Thomas J. Barry, Mary May Clarissa Barry (married Doctor Arthur J. Losier, M.D.), James Barry, Reverend Father Edward Aloysuis Barry, Annie R. Barry (married William Condon), Theresa Josephine Barry (married Joseph Omer Guidry), John Patrick Barry (former member of parliament for Miramichi), Judge Herbert Francis Cranney Barry, Mary Elizabeth Kathleen Barry (married Bertrand E. Irving).

Formerly of Campbellton, New Brunswick-where she had lived for more than fifty years-she had resided in Saint John for the last seventeen years of her life.

Lilian was predeceased by her husband, the late Judge James Thomas Troy [the couple had married on 3 Nov 1927 in Alnwick, New Brunswick]; her oldest son, Lieutenant (Pilot) William Thomas 'Barry' Troy, RCN; her son-in-law Joseph Berry; her five brothers: Thomas, James, Edward, John and Herbert Barry; her four sisters: Mary (Arthur) Losier, Annie (William) Condon, Theresa (Omar) Guidry and Kathleen (Bert) Irving.

She is survived by her two sons: the Most Reverend J. Edward Troy, Bishop Emeritus of Saint John, and W. Richard (Pauline) Troy of Santa Monica, California, USA; her two daughters: Nora ['Mickey']-Mrs. Wallace Russell of Mission British Columbia, and Mrs. Sandra Berry of Guelph, Ontario; her 11 grandchildren; her 15 great-grandchildren; her great-great-grandchild; and her many dear nephews, nieces, grand-nephews and grand-nieces.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Lilian Mary Elizabeth (Barry) Troy was held on 12 Dec 2001 in the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Saint John, with interment in the St. Thomas Aquinas Cemetery in Campbellton, New Brunswick, which took place at a later date.
