Amanda Parsley Worth , 93, passed away Saturday, June 24, 2017, at Brighton Gardens of Raleigh, with her family at her side. Amanda was born on March 12, 1924, in Charlotte, NC , to the late Margaret McDaniel Parsley and William Murdoch Parsley III. She graduated from high school in Charlotte and attended Sweetbriar College. On December 3, 1948, she married George Williams Worth , and moved to Raleigh NC , where she made her home and devoted herself to her family, her many friends, and to her church, White Memorial Presbyterian. Amanda was a consummate knitter and is known far and wide for her beautiful creations, as well as for her delicious homemade butter mints. She also enjoyed reading, gardening, cooking, and of course, tennis. Her foursome played together for over 40 years. Amanda was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Parsley, her husband of 43 years, George Worth , Sr., and her sister Margaret Parsley Adams. She is greatly missed by her children, George Williams Worth , Jr.; Margaret Worth Myers and her husband Martin K. Myers; and Amanda Worth Tueting; and by her grandchildren, Amanda Parsley Batchelor; Sarah Ruth Rhodes and her husband, Christopher D. Rhodes; and William Hill Sigmon, III, and his wife, Mallory Cavanagh Sigmon. A graveside service will be held at Oakwood Cemetery, 701 Oakwood Ave. in Raleigh, at 10:00 am, Thursday, June 29; followed by a memorial service at 11:00 am, at White Memorial Presbyterian Church, 1704 Oberlin Rd. The family will welcome friends to celebrate her life at Amanda 's home following the funeral services. Memorials may be made to Transitions LifeCare, 250 Hospice Circle, Raleigh NC 27607. The family would also like to offer grateful thanks to the staff of Transitions, and of Brighton Gardens of Raleigh, who cared for Amanda in her last weeks with such love and kindness.
