Stanley was born on August 15, 1936, the son of Axel and Ines (Bye) Fred in Rugby, ND. He was baptized at Zion Congregation in Barton, ND. Stanley was educated in rural schools in Pierce County before moving to Willow City, where he graduated from high school in 1956. During his high school years, he worked on various farms during the summer months.
After graduation, Stanley moved to Minot where he was employed by Ellison’s Department Store from 1956 until 1963. In addition, he also worked for Northwest Piano and Towner Forestry. In 1969, Stanley began working for I. Keating Furniture in Minot, where he worked until retiring in 2005. He will long be remembered as a dedicated and loyal worker who was well liked by both his employers and fellow employees.
Stanley was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church and the Salvation Army. He enjoyed going on occasional trips around North Dakota and Minnesota by himself or with his mother or friends and to Arizona to visit his sister. He was a kind hearted and wonderful brother and uncle who will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Stanley is survived by his brothers: Larry (Monica) Fred of Mankato, MN and David (Mary) Fred of Cary, NC; sister Shirley Fuller of Coon Rapids, MN; and numerous nephews, nieces and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister Louise Hoenhous; and his brother-in-laws Maurice Fuller and Jerry Hoenhous.
