Council Bluffs News - Pinkney Mayberry died at 5 o'clock yesterday morning of malaria at the age of 54 years. The funeral will take place at 2:30 o'clock this afternoon from his residence, 2730 Third avenue, and the remains will be taken to Fairview cemetery for interment.

Pinkney was married to Amanda Maupin on February 7, 1867 in Dade County, Missouri. They were the parents of three children, Lucius, John L., and Hubert.

After Pinkney's death, his wife remarried Emery Dunn on May 21, 1895 in Clarinda, Page County, Iowa. Amanda and Emery Dunn were listed on the 1900 census for Nodaway, Page County, Iowa with Hubert Mayberry (age 9) listed as a step-son. Ten years later, Amanda was listed as a widow, living with her son Hubert (age 19) in Clarinda, Iowa. Some time after 1910 and before 1915, Amanda married William F. Aikman. Amanda Aikman was listed as a widow on the 1930 census for Clarinda, Iowa.
