A daughter of the late Carl and Helen Shields Wallace, she was born July 13, 1924, in Washington Township.
Mrs. Martin was a graduate of Marion Center High School and the Indiana State Teacher’s College (Indiana University of Pennsylvania). She taught elementary school in the Butler School District. Following her teaching career, Mrs. Martin was a nurse at Indiana Regional Medical Center for 13 years. She was a member of the Indiana Wesleyan Church. Mrs. Martin enjoyed farming with her family, driving the tractors, feeding and milking the cows. She was known for her graham cracker pies and cinnamon buns, but most important, she is in heaven with her husband.
She is survived by her three sons: Carl Martin and wife Lori, of Indiana; Bob Martin, of Indiana; and John Martin and wife Teresa, of Indiana; a brother, Lawrence Wallace, of Marion Center; five grandchildren: Joy Culp and husband Scott; Kara Horn and husband Tim; Ashley Martin, Landon Martin and Caleb Martin; two great grandchildren: Nadina Horn and Jolina Horn; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William T. Martin; and a sister, Margery Black.
Friends will be received from 5 to 9 p.m. Friday at Robinson-Lytle, Inc., where a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, with the Rev. Ben Blowers officiating. Interment will be in Washington Church Cemetery.
