Phyllis was born on May 30, 1919 in Garden City, Kansas to J.N. "Paul" and Mary (Provost) LeFort. She passed away on July 18, 2017 in Lamar, Colorado at the age of 98 surrounded by family and friends at Lamar Estates.
Phyllis was the eighth of twelve children born to Paul and Mary and the only member of the family to graduate high school. She continued her education at St. Catherine's in Garden City, Kansas and received her Registered Nurse (RN) license.
Phyllis married Pete Geier on July 22, 1941. Together, they moved to California, where Pete worked in ship yards during the war.
In 1945, they returned to Garden City. They eventually settled in Lamar, Colorado and opened Mullins furniture store. The original store was located on Main Street and in 1951, relocated to East Olive Street. Phyllis was a Charter Member of the Catholic Daughters of America, a hospice volunteer and a hospital auxiliary member.
Phyllis is survived by her children, Peter Michael "Mickey" (Esther) Geier of Pueblo, Colorado, Jim (Lana) Geier of Trinidad, Colorado, Eldonna (Jeff) Mosier of Lamar, Colorado, Tom Geier of St. Paul, Minnesota, Sue (Charles) Maddox of Liberal, Kansas, and Pat (Gary) Hall of Kennewick, Washington; sister, Alma West of Indiana, Monticello; eighteen grandchildren, twenty-seven great grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, J.N. "Paul" and Mary (Provost) LeFort; husband, Pete Geier; brothers, Louis, Leo, Lou, Pete, Admer, Ronald, Homer, and Emile LaFort; sisters, Isabel Herman and Rosana Martin.
