James W. Armshaw Jr., age 22, son of Savannah, Mo., native and former St. Joseph resident, Lila Kinder Folkers, died unexpectedly Feb. 24, 2007, at the family home in Mission Viejo, Calif.

James was a frequent Midland Empire visitor to his late uncle, Bobby Kinder; and late grandmother, Marjory Kinder of Savannah and St. Joseph. Mrs. Kinder lived in California for eight years.

R. Mike Feurt, former Nashville talent agent; and Jim Hellerich, a local singer-writer and band leader, describe James as, "A chip off the ole Bobby block," as Uncle Bobby was a drummer and articulate author of a published authoritative book on Rock-N-Roll 50s Stars.

James, a guitarist-vocalist-songwriter, led a band featured in L.A. and Orange County venues.
James was a handsome, kind and gentle lad. He loved his family, his friends and his family cat, Sqirt, (who was with him Feb. 24); and his poodle, Brandy.

He also is survived by loving stepfather, Dr. Ed Folkers, D.V.M.; cousins, David and Sally Jo Potter, and family, Savannah; special friends, Beau, Kelly and Manney Walker, Mariah Kirschmer, Jack and Connie Frost, and Jim and Cathey Hellerich; and his surrogate uncle, R. Mike Feurt.

James was preceded in death by his father, Dr. James Armshaw; and two great-aunts, Ruth Goodloe and Irene Potter.

The funeral service is pending at Westminster Chapel, Cypress, Calif. Memorials should be directed to Karla Long of the local American Red Cross or Andrew County, Mo., Fire Disaster Fund
