Mr. Ronald L. Aubin, 89, of 561 Avery Road a Retired Navy Veteran, and former Town of Stratford Supervisor, died Saturday October 28, 2017 at Bassett Medical Center, Cooperstown, after a brief illness.

Ron was born in Dolgeville, on March 14, 1928, the son of Alphonse J. and Pearl (Bullock) and was a graduate of Stratford Central School class of 1945.

Upon graduating from high school he enlisted in the United States Navy, serving from September 4,1945 through July 21, 1965 both active duty and in reserve. He served overseas for a period of three years and received the following awards, the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal and the Good Conduct Medal, six different times.

Upon returning from the service Ron was employed by the Remington Arms Company of Ilion, first in the wood stock department, then working his was way to the position as foreman, prior to retiring. While working Ron also attended Fulton – Montgomery College where he earned an Associate’s Degree and then transferred to SUNNY IT College, where he received his BS Degree in Industrial Engineering.

While stationed in San Diego, with the Navy he was united in marriage to Sheryl Lee Punneo, on October 26, 1963. Mrs. Aubin predeceased him on October 20, 2009.

Ron served as Town of Stratford Supervisor for a period of 12 years, from 1976 to 1988.

He was a member of the National Rifle Association, the Stratford Senior Citizens, and he personally enjoyed watching the wildlife around his property, and socializing throughout the Town of Stratford.

Surviving are his Sons Richard Aubin of Augusta, GA., David Paul Aubin of Stratford, his daughters Robyn Aubin and Bonnie Aubin both of Stratford, Nancy Aubin of Dolgeville, his Brother and his wife Leo and Lorraine Aubin of Stratford, his sisters Carolyn Walker of Stratford, Nelda Cheney of St. Johnsville, Rosalie and her husband Robert Blanchard of Indian Springs, and Randa and her husband Cliff Davis of Kingfisher, OK, his grandchildren, Ryan, Jordan, Cody, Kayleigh, Colten, Andrew, Rhea and Alessandria, nieces and nephews.

Burial with Military Honors will be in the Dibble-Tuttle Cemetery, Salisbury Center.
