Donald Lee Rankin passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 26, 2017, while under the care of Samaritas Senior Living in Saginaw. Age 81 years. Don was born on December 2, 1935, in Greenfield, TN, to the late Floyd and Effie (Sutton) Rankin. He married Bonnie Jean Denno on March 14, 1955, in Saginaw, and after 39 years together, Jean predeceased him on November 5, 1994. Prior to his retirement, Don was employed as a heavy equipment operator for the City of Saginaw. Back in the day, Don and Jean enjoyed roller skating together so much that they had competed in numerous competitions over the years.

Surviving are his two daughters, Sherri Montgomery, Ann Arbor, MI; Tammi (Oliver) Carrero, Acworth, GA; four grandchildren, Tanesha, Anthony, Alex and Andrew; one brother, Jerry (Pat) Rankin; also several nieces and nephews. Don was predeceased by his brother and sister-in-law, Clete and Virginia Rankin.

Funeral service will take place 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 31, 2017, at the Wakeman Funeral Home, Inc., 1218 N. Michigan Ave., Saginaw. Rev. Tom Dinan will officiate with burial in Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Friends are welcome to visit with the family at the Wakeman Funeral Home, Inc. on Tuesday from 12:00 noon until the time of service.
