Lorene E. Stroud, 94, of Davenport, Iowa, died Friday, October 27, 2017 at Genesis Medical Center, East Campus in Davenport.

Her funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, November 2, 2017 at Grandview Baptist Church in Davenport where she was a member. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home in Bettendorf. Burial will be in Oakdale Memorial Gardens in Davenport. Memorials may be made to Grandview Baptist Church to assist with the church mission programs.

Lorene was born August 23, 1923 in Plano, Iowa, the daughter of George & Bessie (Elder) Bennett. She was united in marriage to Jasper Boyd Stroud on December 25, 1940 in Russell, Iowa. He preceded her in death on January 29, 2004.

A busy homemaker, Lorene will be remembered for her exceptional baking. A loving wife and mother, she loved her grandchildren, teaching them the values of love, joy, patience and gentleness. Lorene was a prayer warrior for her church’s congregation.

Those left to honor Lorene’s memory include her daughter & son-in-law, Darlene & Gary Padavich of Centerville, Iowa and their daughter & her husband, Darci & Dennis Whitlow and their children, Cayleigh, Kaden and Gable; her son & daughter-in-law, Dale & Janet Stroud of Springfield, Ohio; their son & his wife, Steven & Anne Stroud & their children, David, Benjamin, Luke, Jesse & Lilly; their daughter & her husband, Suzan & Anthony Ojeda and their child, Madison; her son, Don Stroud of Long Grove, Iowa; his daughter & her husband, Mandy & Chris Mallicoat & their children, Abby, Reagan, Eli, Emma and Sammy; and their sons and daughters-in-law, Jay & Melissa Stroud and their children Charlie and Lila and Andy & Stacia Stroud and their children, Drew, Talia and Jonathan; and her daughter & son-in-law, Deloris & Jim McGimpsey of Eldridge, Iowa; and their daughters, Jenny McGimpsey & Amiee McGimpsey;

In addition to her husband Boyd, Lorene was preceded in death by her parents; her sisters, Letha, Mamie, Mae, Opal, Cleo and Floy; her brothers, Oscar, Harley, Glen and Vernon; and her daughter-in-law, Ilene Stroud.
