Muskegon, MI - - Darrell John Adams, 69, of Muskegon, MI, died peacefully, surrounded by family, on December 13, 2015 of a quickly progressing lung cancer. He was born January 17, 1946, in Chicago, IL. He attended Orchard View, Muskegon Catholic, and Ravenna schools. He spent many happy years working for Lappo Lumber Company. He attended the University of Michigan, ultimately graduating from Grand Valley State University. He went on to work for the prison system and the Department of Human Services. He was an avid football fan - willingly of the Broncos, more reluctantly of the Lions. If they win the Super Bowl this year, we will know indeed there is a heaven. He loved spending his time with family, friends, and his church family. He was preceded in death by his father, Martin Raap and his brother, David Adams, along with his dear uncles Leo, Ed, Mitch, Johnny, and Ted, and his Auntie Anna.

He is survived by his beloved Suzanne Adams, his daughters Angel Dean and Deirdre Adams, stepchildren James and Amanda Young, his mother, Kay Raap, and brother Patrick and Mitchell Raap. He enjoyed being "Grampy Darrell" to his grandchildren Fiona and Asa Dean and Eleana and Addie Young.

A celebration of his life will take place at Unity Church of Muskegon (2052 Bourdon St.) on December 17, 2015 at 6:30 pm. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Unity Church, as this was a home to him for many years. Darrell touched all who knew him. He had a contagious laugh, a deep appreciation of stories, and a heart full of love.
