Mr. Edsel W. "Bud" Absten, Sr., went home to be with the Lord on Friday, October 27, 2017, at the age of 79.

He is preceded in death by his parents Adam W. and Hazel A. (Runyon) Absten; brothers Thomas, Delmer and Edward Absten. He is survived by his wife Carlie Yvonne (Witt) Absten; daughters Leanna Absten, Melva and Michael Cochran and Christy and Joe Thomas; son Edsel W. Jr., and Tammy Absten; grandchildren Amanda (Jo) and E.J. Massey, Beth Graley, Phillip Thomas, Rachael Cochran, Edsel W. (Hoss) Absten, III, Michael Cochran, II, Natasha Absten and Mikaley Cochran; great grandchildren Abigail and Heidi and sisters Ruth Reed, Rosalee Harrison and Leroy, Norma Moles and Manny, Luella DeWeese, Deanna DeWeese and Bill and Eva Noffsinger and Tim. Bud is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews and other family and friends.

Bud was a member of Carpenters Local 1207 and retired from E.E. Moore Company. He was a current member of Set Free Ministries, but helped build several churches during his life. Bud sang gospel music in several groups but most recently sang with his wife and daughters as part of Joyful Noise. The family would like to say a special thanks to Hospice Care.

A tribute to the life of Mr. Edsel "Bud" Absten, Sr. will be 2:00 PM Tuesday October 31, 2017 at Gatens-Harding Funeral Home Chapel with Michael Karnes and Ray Humphrey officiating. Burial will follow in Center Point Cemetery, Liberty. The family will receive friends 6 to 8 PM Monday at the funeral home.
