Bruce R. Black, 56, passed away October 25, 2017. A graduate of Pike H.S., AMI in Daytona, and Berklee School of Music in Boston, he was a talented musician. Showing off his flair and talent on his drum kit was his passion. Constantly tapping a beat on any surface, even at the dinner table. He played in local bands in Daytona, L.A. and in the Boston area, making friends everywhere he went. He grew up near Speedway, IN and always enjoyed all forms of racing. Obviously, IndyCar, and later NASCAR, enjoying every race. He competed for many years in motocross throughout Indiana. On any given summer Sunday you'd find him with his dad at one the tracks where he competed. He enjoyed music and art, teaching himself to draw and paint. Bruce loved children, not having any of his own although he always dreamed of a large family. He could interact and entertain kids of all ages, and they loved him right back. An animal lover, he always had his "babies", Bruce would never allow any mistreatment of an animal. He was preceded in death by his father, William H. “Bill” Black, brothers; William J. Black, Randell H. Black, and sister, Sonya L. Black. He is survived by his mother, Vetra Black and sister, Brenda (Todd) Labadie. Also a long time friend and companion, Joy (Helton) Black, several Aunts, Uncles and many cousins. Services will be 1pm Tuesday October 31, 2017 at Conkle Funeral Home Speedway with visitation 11am-1pm before the Service. Burial will be in Floral Park Cemetery. Contributions may be made to the St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, or any "No Kill" animal rescue.
