OLATHE — Kenneth Wayne Heald of Olathe, Colo. died peacefully at home surrounded by his family on Tuesday afternoon, June 3, 2008, at the age of 87.
Kenneth was born on July 4, 1920 in Montrose, Colo. to Asa W. and Minnie (Meyers) Heald.
He spent his childhood and graduated from high school in Montrose. He proudly served his country in the Navy during WWII.
Kenneth married Helen Elizabeth Alexander on Nov. 9, 1947 in Norwood, Colo., and they homesteaded in Pavillian, Wyo. He retired from Eagle Elementary School in 1988 as a custodian.
Kenneth is survived by his wife, Helen of Olathe; five children: Oda Brownlee of Grand Junction, Colo., Lawrence (Val) Heald of Longmont, Colo., Guy (Joanne) Heald of Concord, Calif., Wilma (Mike) Paddock of Rifle Colo., Susan (Doug) Lyon of Grand Junction; 18 grandchildren; 20 great- grandchildren; one brother, Charles (Virginia) Heald of California and one sister, Lucille (Stanley) Maxson of Wyoming.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, George in 2006; four brothers and three sisters.
Kenneth was a loving husband, father and grandfather and will be deeply missed by everyone who knew him.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 7, 2008, at 1 p.m., at Crippin Funeral Home Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made in Memory of Kenneth Heald to Hospice & Palliative Care of Western Colorado, P.O. Box 1804, Montrose, CO 81402.
