Harry was born while the family were living at Wetmore, Kansas. As a young man he went to Arizona to work as an engineer for the state, and met Edna Pauline Harris, whom he married on January 16, 1911. They moved to California where both Pauline and Harry died. Harry married Virginia Hanby Hunt as his second wife in 1945. He was the father of four children - Harold Paul (1913-1913), Harry E., Jr. (1923-1997), John Albert (1915-1988), and Helen Leah Olsen (1919-1994).
