Son of Capt. Andrew Drake 1683 & 1743 & Hanna Fitz Randolph 1688-1742. Edward was the second son of eleven kids mentioned in his father's will of 1742.

The family was raised on The Drake Homestead, that was near Plainfield, in Watchung, Somerset, NJ. It is believed that Edward built his home circa 1740. (see photo), which overlooked the Washington Valley. These lands possibly were his final resting place.

1) Mary Drake 1738-1808 m. Thomas Vail 1734-1792 kids: Isaac, Martha, John, Ester & Peter. Mary is linked to memorial.
2) Joseph Drake b. 1739, he went south, no other info.
3) Jeremiah Drake 1738-1801 m. (2nd wife) Elizabeth Wooten 1737-1801 Their daughter Rhoda Drake Sayer 1764-1827, married Josiah Sayer 1763-1857, served Rev War, FAG # 145114553.
4) Edward Drake Dray 1741-1828 He changed his last name from Drake to Dray. MEMORIAL ID 9181107, private, 1st. class, 6th Co,5th batt. Cumberland Co, Pa. Militia in the Rev. War. Eleven kids last name of Drey: James, William, Robert, Samuel Edward, Susannah, Thomas, Mary Agnes "Nancy", Mary Ann "Polly", Jane, Margaret, and Kay.
5) Andrew 1746-1827 m. second wife, Eunice Martin 1759-1840 . Their kids: Noah, Mary Polly (Allen), Experience (Watson), Piatt, Martha (Frazee) and Sarah (Secor). Andrew is linked to memorial.
**these kids were noted in Family Records of First Settlers of Passaic Valley. D. Felt, 1851, not noted in Wm. Penn Vail writings.
5) Cathy (Catherine) Drake m. Ebeneezer Lyon.
6) Sarah Drake m. William Littel, son of Andrew, they went to Sussex.
