Obituary.
John William Farrell was born in Madison County, Kentucky, February 17, 1840, and died at his home in Clarence, Thursday, December 5th. He was the son of Daniel and Spicey Farrell and was the eldest of a family of five sons, two of them, S. H. Farrell of Madison, and Samuel Farrell of Kansas City, still living. The former was unable to attend the funeral on account of illness.
He was married in Kentucky to Ruth K. Alexander and eight children were born to this union, six of whom with his wife survive: Hattie, Jennie and Delos of Clarence; Wm and George of Illinois; Mrs. Annie Alexander, of Oklahoma. The latter was not present but visited him during his sickness in September.
Mr. Farrell united with the Christian Church in early manhood at Lexington, Kentucky, and was a faithful member of the First Christian Church in this city at the time of his death. Mr. Farrell was taken sick in LeRoy, Iowa, last June and had been sick since that time, though his case grew critical the week of his death, and his death was a surprise to the community. He was a kind husband and father and a faithful member of the Church of his choice.
His funeral was held at the family residence at 10 a. m. Saturday, conducted by his minister, Rev. Lockhart. There were many beautiful floral offerings. The family have the sympathy of many friends in their bereavement.
