Betty Jean Peterson, born June 6, 1927 to Rueben Farnsworth and Ruth Marie Christie in Salt Lake City, returned home on October 16, 2017.

Grandma lived a beautiful ninety years surrounded by those she loved. Each of her grandchildren cherished the fun and happy moments they shared together. Grandma's hobbies included bingo, quilting, card games, and crossword puzzles. She was always up for a game of thirty-one with her friends and family.

Every gift she gave was made from home and from the heart. No one's house ever exceeded in detail or quite captured the holiday spirit at Christmas like grandmas' did. Although she came from a tougher upbringing, her laugh and light never ceased. She will always be remembered every time we wrap ourselves in one of our many blankets she made for each of us.

Grandma's heart always went out to children — which is why when given the opportunity, she made forty-four blankets for the kids at Shriners Hospital, one for each of them there. She and her son, Gerry, spent some time there when Gerry was younger and she has had a soft place in her heart for that hospital ever since.

For fifteen years, she worked at Auerbach's. She loved her time there selling clothing and really enjoyed her employee discount! She collected a wardrobe that she was very proud of.

She is survived by her six children, Shirley, Gerry, Michelle, Ruth Ann, Julie, and Kenneth; two sisters, Patricia (John) Maurer and Mary (Bob) Anthon; twelve grandchildren; and twenty-seven great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents and brother, Jack (Marion) Farnsworth.

"Grandma, there is no way to tell you how much you mean to us. We love you and will remember you always! We hope you are playing bingo and crafting to your heart's content. Until we meet again".

Graveside services will be held on Friday, October 20, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. in the Mount Olivet Cemetery. 1342 East 500 South, Salt Lake City.
