The funeral of Mrs. Mary Cornelia Royal, 71, widow of Forrest Betton Royal, who died Saturday, was held Monday afternoon from her late residence, 930 Madison Avenue, with Interment in Rosedale Cemetery, Orange.

Services were in charge of the Rev. E. Vicars Stevenson, rector of Grace Church, and the Rev. William L. Phillips, rector of the St. Stephen's Church.

Mrs. Royal was born in Germantown, Pa. She lived in Plainfield nine years and was a communicant of Grace Church. Surviving are two sons.

During World War I she was the president of the American Chocolate Fund which sent 46 tons of chocolate to the enlisted men. I don't want her contribution to the war to be forgotten.

Mrs. Mary C. Holmes Royal, widow of Forrest Betton Royal, died at her home in Plainfield Saturday. During the World War Mrs. Royal was president and founder of the American Chocolate Fund, 4 West Fifty-seventh street, New York. The fund was started in Monclair by Mrs. Royal under the auspices of the Montclair Times. It supplied gifts of chocolate to soldiers and sailors.

Two sons survive Mrs. Royal, William Morehead Vermilye, formerly of Montclair, with whom Mrs. Royal lived during her residence in Montclair, and Lieutenant Commander Forrest Betton Royal of the U. S. S. Chester.

Mrs. Royal was a former vice-president of the Campfire Girls of New York and a former member of the Republican Committee of One Hundred New York.
