Betty C. Bloom, 86, resident of Stanley, ND died on Saturday, October 14, 2017 at Mountrail Bethel Home in Stanley.
Betty Carol Abrahamson was born September 29, 1931 in rural Tagus, ND to Bert and Wilma (Vesey) Abrahamson. She was raised and graduated from Tagus High School, then attended Minot State Teacher College. After graduating with a teacher’s certificate, she taught for 2 years. Betty married Vaughn Bloom on October 18, 1953. They moved to Lakewood, CA where she worked at the telephone company. During the spring of 1961, they returned to their homestead in Blaisdell to be near family and friends which were her most valued treasures. In 1973 they moved to Plaza. In the fall of 1980, they moved to Stanley, where they resided until 2012. Betty later moved to Brentmoor Assisted Living, in Minot. Betty was always willing to help anyone and was often the chauffer. She was an avid bowler, at which the score never mattered, she just enjoyed the social time. She loved to play bingo, cards, dance and travel. Betty was an active member in Red Hats, Legion Auxiliary, and her grandchildren’s activities. She was a member and involved in the Ladies Aid at Shell Creek Lutheran and American Lutheran. For many years, Betty could be seen working at the American Legion in Stanley, the Scenic Restaurant and Better B’s Restaurant. During the spring, her pride was her green house. Betty officially retired at the age of 79. During her semi-retirement years, she enjoyed spending the winter months in the south.
Betty was truly a friend to all and always greeted everyone with her beautiful smile.
Betty will be deeply missed by her children, Jacki (Dennis) Deaver, Berthold, ND, Janet (Rick) Lee, Plaza, ND and Jane (Delton) Brown, Hot Springs Village, AR; grandchildren, Brandi Deaver (Fiancé Brent Kjorstad), Derrick (Wanda) Deaver, Denver (Janelle) Deaver, Jesse Lee, Alec Lee, Sarah (Anthony) Dosch, Amanda (Brian) Bean and Kory Brown; 14 great grandchildren; brothers, Robert (Diane) Abrahamson and Norris (Ruth) Abrahamson, sister-in-law, Shirley (Dave) Raney, and several nieces and nephews.
