Upon her passing, she was laid to rest on November 30, 1975 on the grounds of New Zion Cemetery in Marshall, Texas.

"Funeral services for Mrs. Lessie B. Chatman, 64, of 2205 Randolph Street, will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday in West Side Church Of Christ with Brother Claude Andrews officiating. Burial will follow in New Zion Cemetery under the direction of Lewis Funeral Home.
Born August 14, 1911 in Harrison County, she was the daughter of Dave Carr Sr. and Mrs. Pearlie (Brightman) Carr. She was a member of West Side Church Of Christ.
Survivors include her husband, Y.D. Chatman; four sons, Carl Chatman, Harold Chatman and Gary Chatman, all of Marshall, and James D. Chatman, of Fort Worth; three daughters, Mrs. Vivian D. Washington, of Marshall, Mrs. Carolyn A. Clark, of Panama, and Mrs. Juanita Jackson, of Dayton, Ohio; 14 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Roberta Arnett, of Dallas, and Mrs. Pearlie Carr, of Marshall; and four brothers, Benjamin Carr, Dave Carr Jr., Garland Carr and L.C. Carr, all of Marshall."
