Darrell Eugene Underwood, age 85, of Campbellsville Road in LaRue County, passed away Thursday, October 12, 2017, at his residence.
He retired in 1994 from the Kentucky Transportation Department in Hardin County with 32 years of service. He was a farmer and member of Corinth Baptist Church. Eugene had a great sense of humor and a love of music.
He was preceded in death by his parents Lee and Ida Bray Underwood; three brothers, Paul Richard and Thomas Underwood and two sisters, Lillie Skaggs and Virginia Buley.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Shirley Hash Underwood, two daughters, Jeannie Lynn Underwood and Cindy Lee (Michael) Phelps, all of Bardstown; three grandsons, Holden Underwood, Brett Phelps and Luke Phelps; a step-grandson, Matthew (Brittany) Phelps; a step-granddaughter, Nichole Phelps; a step-great-grandson, Rowan Phelps and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 11 AM, Sunday, October 15, 2017, at the Corinth Baptist Church with Rev. Tim Maggard officiating. Burial will follow in the Campbellsville Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be from 1 to 8 PM, Saturday at Bennett-Bertram Funeral Home in Hodgenville and after 9 AM, Sunday at the church.
