Zelma Chandler was born Nov. 28, 1926 to Theodore Emmett and Martha Aretha (Patrick) Wethey.
She passed away Nov. 18, 2010 at Miami. Zelma was the oldest of ten children.
Zelma married Lysle Chandler on Feb. 24, 1942. They were married for 62 years. Zelma loved her church, children and family. She was the pastors wife for 40 years. She worked at the Fairland Apostolic Christian school for 31 years and worked several years at the Glennberry Sewing Factory and Rest Haven Motel. Zelma enjoyed going to Flea Markets.
She was preceded in death by her husband, daughter, Mary Jane Smith, her parents and three sisters, Artie Chandler, Edna Wethey, and Halley Wethey , two grandchildren, David and Rebecca Bickford.
She is survived by: three daughters and husbands, LaVerne and Lee Roy Bickford, Zella and Darrell Blevins, and Doris and Florian Lucky; one son Russell and Molly (Murphy) Chandler; 15 grandchildren, five sisters, , Ellen Gates, Neoma Gage, Wanell Canady, and Dorothy Wethey; two brothers, Orille Wethey and James Wethey, a host of great-grand children and great-great-grandchildren, many other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held at Burckhalter Funeral Home on Saturday, Nov. 20, 2010 from 6-8 p.m.
Graveside services will be held Monday, Nov. 22, 2010 at 2 p.m., at Sixkiller Cemetery with Pastor Leroy Bickford officiating.
Funeral services are under the direction of Burckhalter Funeral Home.
