Opal passed away Tuesday, Feb. 20, 2007 at Covenant Medical Center in Lubbock.
She was born June 25, 1919 in Coryell County to the late Jessie and Viola (Cathy) Barrington.
She started school in Goldthwaite and moved to the Ralls area in 1928. Opal graduated from Post High School in 1936.
She married Luther Miller on Aug. 29, 1936 in Post. He passed away Nov. 30, 1978. They lived in Fisher County for 20 years before moving back to the Ralls area in 1956. She was a member of the Ralls First Baptist Church, the Glory Singers and Dag's Sunday School Class. Opal worked at Winn's and Lynch's in Ralls for several years then went to work at Quick Stop convenience store where she was assistant manager until her retirement in 1993. She was also a certified upholsterer.
Opal is preceded in death by a son, Jerrell Miller, Sr.; a grandson, Dalton Miller; a granddaughter, Bobbie Jo Andrews; a brother, Freeman Barrington; and a sister, Velma McKinney.
Survivors include a daughter, Shirley Hagerty of Lubbock; seven grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; and several great great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday at Adams Funeral Home in Ralls.
