Victor "Vic" J. Maag, age 77, of Florence, SD, passed away on Wednesday, October 11, 2017 at his residence. Funeral mass will be at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, October 17, 2017 at the Blessed Sacrament Church in Florence with Father Daniel Smith as celebrant. LeeAnn Maag will be the song leader accompanied by Carolyn Maag.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m., with a wake service at 7:00 p.m. on Monday at the Wight & Comes Funeral Chapel in Watertown.

Burial will be in the Esterly Cemetery, Florence, SD.

Pallbearers will be Mike, Randy and Danny Busskohl, Troy LaFramboise, Randy, Pat, Mark and Brad Maag.

Victor John Maag, son of Edward and Selma (Becking) Maag was born on July 5, 1940 in Watertown, South Dakota. He grew up on the family farm east of Florence and attended Esterly Country School.

Victor married Judy LaFramboise on July 6, 1963 at the Holy Name Catholic Church in Watertown. Vic and Judy lived in Florence where they worked and owned a welding and machine shop named Maag's Welding in Florence for 35 years.

Vic loved spending time with his wife, family, his grandkids and friends. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, cooking and processing meat. He also enjoyed woodworking and inventing and building machines.

Vic is survived by his wife, Judy of Florence; his children, Duane (Kim Elliot), Rose (Ted) Derby and Gwen (Tony) Breske all of Watertown; nine grandchildren, Sherokee Maag, Zara (Francis) Garcia, Hunter Maag, Brier, Brandon and Mahlia Derby, Lily, Colin and Breanna Breske; his siblings, Evonne Lesnar of Roslyn, Vince (Mary) Maag of Sioux Falls, Don (Delores) Maag of Florence, Alice Breuer of Guymon, OK, Jerry (Lynn) Maag of Crosby, MN and Kim Maag of Florence, SD; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Patricia Sumner; two brothers, Lester and Darrel Maag; and three brothers-in-law, Joe Lesnar, Duane Breuer and Larry Sumner.
