ELIZABETH "BETSY" DANIEL CLEMENTS was born to Kisiah Duskin and Woodson Clements 25 February 1824 near Holly Springs in Wake County, North Carolina. She married Wesley Thomas Jones, a farmer, 21 January 1840 in Wake County, North Carolina (John H. Jones, bondsman). Wesley was a state representative for North Carolina for the years 1833-1835. Betsy was midwife to the enslaved people of the family and said Lincoln that freed her (apparently it was a difficult job). On 4 April 1886 Wesley T. Jones and his wife Elizabeth deeded the family homestead site and the mill site to their sons W.M. Jones; and R.W. Jones and his wife, Julia Fannie. Thomas Mill Pond is located in what is now the Holly Springs Business Park. Betsy died 2 March 1892 in Wake County, North Carolina, and was buried in the Wesley Jones Family Cemetery, Holly Springs, Wake County, North Carolina (where Holly Springs Business Park is currently, in 2020, located--near the Novartis plant).

Children of Wesley and Elizabeth: Malinda/Melinda Helen/Hellen (19 May 1841-9 May 1888); William M. (abt. 1843-aft. 1886); Alfred (abt. 1847-?); Mary Elizabeth (29 October-1853-24 August 1943); Cora/Ora Ann (abt. 1856-?); Iredell (daughter)(20 September 1859-20 April 1945); Rufus W. (abt. 1863-aft. 1886); Walton (abt. 1865-?); Mineola "Minnie" I. (31 August 1867-16 January 1945).

The family can be seen in the US federal census: 1850 Western Division, Wake County, North Carolina; 1860 Southern Division, Wake County; 1870 Buckhorn, Wake County; 1880 Buckhorn, Wake County.
