WORLD WAR II
It is with great sorrow that we share the passing of A.V. Kinsey, an exemplary gentleman, beloved father, grandfather and regarded member of the community. A.V., of Yuba City, CA, passed away on October 7, 2017, peacefully from complications of dementia, at 92 years of age. A.V. was born November 9th, 1924, in Cedar Glades, AR.
A.V. could always be counted on to greet you with a warm-hearted smile and twinkle in his eye. His love for family was obvious in how he cherished providing for his natural and adopted children, ensuring no one was left wanting.
He is survived by children, and 6 grandchildren, and numerous great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Mary Alice Kinsey.
A.V. moved from Cedar Glades, AR, to Portola, CA, where he grew up and attended high school. He graduated in 1943, immediately enlisting in the US Navy to fight in the Pacific during WWII. He fought in the battle of Peleliu, and was deployed there for the remainder of the war. Upon return from USN, he met and married the love of his life, Mary Alice, in 1946. They moved throughout the Central and Sacramento Valley's, working on the railroad and as a small business owner. A.V. joined the California Highway Patrol in 1952, at the Madera, CA office. He had over 29 years of service demonstrating the highest traditions of law enforcement. A.V. was a role model of discipline and dedication as a successful law enforcement officer. He worked in the Marysville, Yuba City, and Tracy offices. In 1968, A.V. concluded his service with the Yuba-Sutter office, retiring in 1982. He followed with a short stint as a Private Investigator for a local Attorney's office.
While on the CHP, A.V. partnered with long-time friend, Jim White, in a business venture - a very successful AATCO transmissions repair shop in Marysville, CA, and a second shop, later, in Yuba City, CA.
He will be sorely missed by all who's lives he touched.
