John was a graduate of Tech High School in Indianapolis. He proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1951 until 1953. Following his service in the military John worked as a layout operator for Western Electric for 33 years, retiring in 1983. He was a proud member of the Telecom Pioneers.
Along with his parents and his wife, Becky, he was also preceded in death by his sister, Catherine Chastain.
Survivors include his son, Gary (Nancy) Sarver of Mooresville; sister, Martha Salyards of N. Ft. Myers, Florida; three grandchildren, Gary Michael Sarver, Beth Davis, and Tim Sarver; and six great grandchildren.
Family and friends will gather to celebrate the life of John V. Chastain from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 14, 2017 in the chapel at the Carlisle – Branson Funeral Service & Crematory, Mooresville. The funeral service will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Maple Hill Cemetery in Plainfield.
