Joseph Herbert Barlow was a native and lifelong resident of Prairie Basse. He retired from Emmanuel Baptist Church with thirty-five years of service and was a parishioner of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church.

Survivors include his loving wife of forty-eight years, the former Shirley Marie Mouton; two daughters, Windy Barlow Hardy and Theresa Ann Mouton; two sons, Joseph Herbert Barlow, Jr. and Timothy Carl Barlow and his wife, Kaly; twelve grandchildren, Marissa Leday, Natalie Sherard Hardy, Demika Barlow, Nicholette Renee Hardy, Dylan Christian Barlow, Daylon Carl Barlow, Devyn Cole Barlow, Darrlyn Conner Barlow, Antonio Mouton, Brandon Mouton and his wife, Sydnei, Tamika Journet and Tamara Journet; four great grandchildren, Nayla Marie Angelle, Skylar Leday, EliJah Mouton and Riley Mouton; five brothers, Howard Brown, Leonard Brown and his wife, Shirley, John Brown and his wife, Leanna, Solomon Brown and his wife, Linda and Joseph Pierre; six sisters, Linda B. Comeaux, Dorothy B. Comeaux, Peggy Pierre, Elsie Addison (Stanley), Pricilla Steuben and Geraldine Taylor.

He was preceded in death by two sons, Marcus Anthony Barlow and Clarence Fitzgerald Barlow; and his loving grandparents who raised him, Philomene Charles Barlow and Claymeal Barlow, both natives of Grand Coteau.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 14, 2017 at a 1:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial in St. Charles Borromeo Roman Catholic Church for Joseph Herbert Barlow, Sr., age 68, who passed away Saturday, October 7, 2017 at M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, TX.

Interment will be in St. Charles Borromeo Cemetery in Grand Coteau. The Rev. Clyde LeBlanc, associate pastor of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, will officiate at the services. Melancon Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
