John L. Young, age 75, of Windfall, Indiana passed away on Thursday October 5, 2017 at Riverview Hospital in Noblesville. He was born on April 22, 1942 in Jefferson City, TN to Jack Sr. and Cora Lee (Boatman) Young. John was married to Mary "Tootie" Bolin on October 8, 1960 and they have shared 57 years of marriage together.
John worked for Tebbe Farms in Tipton for 36 years prior to his partial retirement in 2002. He still worked the planting and harvest seasons up until this autumn. In his spare time John enjoyed watching old westerns, target shooting and he spent as much time as he could with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Young, his children; Teresa (Kim) Owen, Jeff (Michelle) Young, Penny (Charles) Brown and Tabitha (Will) Mathews. Also surviving are his grandchildren; Ryan Buster, Cory Buster, Nick Matthews, Megan Mathews, Randy Brown, Craig Brown and his great grandchildren; Gracie Buster, Jonathon Buster, Autumn Buster, Kayliegh Brown, Daisy Brown, Summer Brown, Montana Mathews, Bryanna Boatwright, Haleigh Hart and Hannah Hart. Other survivors include his siblings; Jerrie Eldridge, Jo Ann Patterson, Bill Young and several nieces and nephews.
John was preceded in death by his parents and 6 brothers and sisters.
Funeral services will be held at 11 AM on Friday October 13, 2017 at the Porter Funeral Home located at 726 East North Street in Tipton with Pastor Dennis Johnson officiating. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 PM on Thursday evening October 12 at Porter’s. Interment will follow services in Windfall’s Brookside Cemetery.
