March 2, 1944 - September 23, 2017

Our loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, Chuck Morgan, age 73, died of pulmonary fibrosis.

He was the third son born to James and May Morgan in Jacksonville, Florida. The family moved to Salem in 1945 where he attended Keizer Elementary, Leslie Jr. High, graduated from South Salem High in 1962 and attended Clark Junior College in Vancouver.

In 1964 he joined the National Guard. Returning from basic training he met the "love of his life", Ann Case, at a 4th of July beach party. Three weeks later they eloped getting married in Boise, Idaho. Family and friends were shocked and thought the marriage wouldn't last. They were proven wrong, Chuck and Ann celebrated their 52nd wedding anniversary July 26, 2017.

He worked for Brattain International and Barrett Brothers International before establishing his own dealer business, Free Lance Equipment Sales in 1981.

His happiest moments came from spending time with family. His legacy includes: dedication to hard work, honesty, integrity, and unconditional love. He enjoyed boating, tinkering on cars/trucks, high school wrestling, jazz/blues, his monthly breakfast with high school buds, his Friday night poker game, which he was a major contributor, and an occasional brewski. Chuck and Ann took some amazing trips traveling to Alaska, Hawaii, the Caribbean, Mexico, Canada, Europe, and El Salvador. He enjoyed each and every trip but his favorite place to be was home.

He fulfilled a high school dream when he built an "old school" street rod, a 1936 Ford. Each summer they went to as many cruise-ins as possible, meeting other car enthusiasts and having a blast.

Survivors include wife Ann, son Scott (Liz) of Portland, daughters Shelly (Rob) of Oregon City, Kelle (Jerry) of Salem. Eight "perfect" grandchildren: Charlie, Francine, Christopher, Cole, Austin, Morgan, Blake, and Grant; brothers Ralph (Sara) and Keith (Gerry). Chuck was preceded in death by his eldest brother, David, who died in Vietnam in 1965.

We extend a special thank you to Willamette Valley Hospice, Molly and Susan, for their compassionate care. A deeply heartfelt thank you to our family and friends for their generous support.

A celebration of life will be held at 3:00pm, Sunday, October 8th, at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 3737 Liberty Rd. S, Salem, Oregon. All friends and family are invited.

In lieu of flowers, please make remembrances to Helping Hands Resources, PO Box 3363, Salem, Or 97302, or the Humane Society of Willamette Valley PO Box 13005, Salem, OR 97309.
