Thomas H. Day Sr., a 29-year resident of Yucca Valley, died May 15, 2010, at the Hi-Desert Medical Center in Joshua Tree from complications of pneumonia.

The son of Raymond and Ruth Day, he was born in Graysville, Pa., Jan. 7, 1928. He was 82 years old.

Mr. Day served in the U.S. Marine Corps in both World War II and the Korean Conflict.

Tom worked in the aerospace industry his entire career before retiring in 1993. He was a quality director for ATK Technology, responsible for the booster engine on the space shuttle program.

Along with his wife Vondra, he owned and operated Day’s Office Center in Yucca Valley from 1981 through 1991.

Mr. Day is survived by his wife of 46 years, Vondra of Yucca Valley; his sister, [] of Waynesburg, Pa.; his son [] of Erie, Colo.; his son Bradley Day of Yucca Valley; his son [] of Bermuda Dunes; his daughter [] of Yorba Linda; and his daughter [] of Norco. Mr. Day also leaves behind seven grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Tom will be remembered by all for his honesty and loyalty, his love of golf, dancing and strong sense of family.
In keeping with Mr. Day’s request, there will be no service.
