EARLVILLE, Iowa - Marie G. March, 86, of Kansas City, Mo., formerly of Earlville, died after a lengthy illness, Wednesday, Sept. 23, 1998, at her son's home, where she had lived for several years.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Earlville, with the Rev. Frank Benda officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Earlville. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Clifton Funeral Home, Earlville, where there will be a vigil service at 7 p.m. Friends also may call after 9:30 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.

She was born on May 19, 1912, in Worthington, daughter of Lawrence and Gertrude (Cavanaugh) Whiting. She married Albert LeRoy March on Jan. 10, 1933, in Dyersville; he died on July 21, 1975.

She attended the School for the Blind, Vinton, and graduated from the Iowa School for the Deaf, Council Bluffs.

Surviving are two sons, Ronald (Phyllis) March, of Dyersville, and Robert (Trudy) March, of Kansas City; two daughters, Beverly (Robert) Scheiss, of Freeport, Ill., and Mary Lee Akkerman, of Twin Falls, Idaho; 15 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Frances Martin, of Tyler, Texas, Anita Ament, of Dyersville, and Dorothy Beyers, of Delhi; and a brother, Eugene Whiting, of Delhi.

She also was preceded in death by a brother, Frank Whiting; a sister, Rose Werner; and two grandsons.

In lieu of flowers, a Marie March Memorial Fund has been established.
