Gladys Mae Vandenhuval was born on June 17, 1932 in Stanton Township, Goodhue County, MN to Edward and Estella (nee Fletcher) Vandenhuval. She grew up in rural Randolph and attended school in Red Wing. Gladys worked as a waitress in Dodgeville, WI and later at the Dairy Bar in Cannon Falls. On July 20, 1952 she married Edward Arthur Duncan in Minneapolis. After Edward finished his military duty, they started farming in the Belle Creek area. They later moved to a farm near Sogn Valley. Edward died on January 19, 1967. Gladys married David A. Lohmann on August 11, 1968 in Minneapolis. They made their home on the Lohmann Family Farm. Gladys worked on the farm, doing chores and helping David while being a homemaker and helping raising the kids. Gladys enjoyed gardening and canning, baking, doing some traveling, taking road trips, working word search puzzles, watching the “Price is Right” and western shows, especially “Bonanza” and “Gunsmoke”. Gladys was a member of Christ Lutheran Church, Red Wing Senior Citizens and Farm Bureau.
Gladys is survived by her husband, David; sons, Kenneth (Debra) Duncan Lohmann, Larry (Vicky) Duncan Lohmann, Michael (Wendy) Duncan Lohmann and Richard Lohmann and fiancée Karen Vallejo; daughter, Valerie (Shawn) Omdahl; twelve grandchildren, twenty three great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Gladys was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Estella; first husband, Edward Arthur Duncan; sisters, Florence Woodward, Helen Sharp and Irene Erickson and brothers, Lloyd and Paul Vandenhuval.
