Benjamin
Donald Benjamin, 74, of Burlington Green died peacefully at
home on Friday, November 2, 2007, surrounded by his loving
family.
He was born at home in Burlington Green on October 10, 1933 the son of Murray and Florence (Stickles) Benjamin. He
married Jeannette Cline on August 8, 1951 at the home of
Pastor & Mrs. Davenport.
Donald retired as the Housekeeping Supervisor from Bassett Hospital, where he had been
employed for 30 years. His first priority was family, and then his love of the outdoors. Donald
savored life, and kept tradition with the running of the "Benjamin Maple Sugar Bush" in
Burlington Flats.
Darien Lake was another valuable tradition;
each year with his whole family
they would camp out, play miniature golf, and
enjoy the rides. This year was no exception,
even though his fight with cancer was coming to an end. Donald enjoyed John Deere
Tractors, and putting puzzles together. Sharing his morning meal with his wife of 56 years
with yet another tradition: pancakes, maple
syrup, eggs, and coffee.
Donald is survived by his wife, Jeannette;
his children and their spouses Kelly Benjamin,
Flossie & Keith Bliss, Paul & Linda Benjamin, Tim and Beth Benjamin, and Art & Gloria
Benjamin; his grandchildren Nathan, Mitchell, Paul, Mike, Jennifer and Matthew, Sarah,
Daniel, Meghan, and Brandon; his siblings and their spouses Richard & Pat Benjamin, Murray
& Evelyn Benjamin, Adrian & Martha Benjamin, Dorothy Bolton, Kenny & Sharron Benjamin,
Mildred Stebbins, and lot's of nieces, nephews,
and cousins. His sister, Carrie Bookhout; and
brothers Charlie, Orlo, and
Sidney Benjamin predeceased Donald.
Memorial services will be held on Tuesday
November 6, 2007 at 1:00 PM at the Houk-
Johnston-Terry Funeral Home, Edmeston with Pastor Aswad officiating. Calling hours will be
from 11:00 AM till 1:00 PM prior to the service on Tuesday.
Contributions may be made in Donald's memory
to either the American Cancer Society or
Catskill Area Hospice & Palliative Care.
