FREDERICK BAESE

"To Mr. Baese eight children were born by his first wife: Herman, a native of the Empire state, was born in 1854, is married and is living on a farm in Nebraska; Mary, born in 1858 also in Buffalo, married Newman Hutchings, and was a resident of the State of Washington; Charles 'Carl' [John], born in 1861, is married [Christine Kruger] and is a farmer of Bennington township [moved to Washington State in 1910]; William, born in 1862 [November], is a farmer, is married and is located at Elsie, Michigan; Pauline [1866], is now Mrs. Charles Green of Bennington, Michigan; Franklin [1868] is a farmer of Bennington; Jennie [1870] is Mrs. Herbert Trask of Benton Harbor, Michigan; Fred R., who was born in 1874, joined the United States Army during the Spanish American war, on the way to Cuba he disappeared and has not been heard from since [he actually went to California]."

[A ninth child, Sophia, was born in 1857 Buffalo, and died after an illness in her first year. She was not mentioned in the text above because the article was about his living children.]

Mary died of Typhoid Fever in February of 1875, a year and a month after the birth of her last child, Fred Baese.
